.Rec is short and sweet, using the Blair Witch format to some success and unlike the recent Romero film does not seem overly long. However I didn't really enjoy this documentary shaky-style-cam horror. I've seen it done before and this feels like only the first half of a feature film, but least its better than Cloverfield!
If you like your horrors to be realistic and not full of cheesy americanised pap then this is for you. Its a little slow at first so bear with it, because by the end of the film its so tense you want it to finish. Unfortunate thing is, I went out to buy this film but its not the same the second time round
Rented this not knowing what to expect. What I got was a toe clenching white knuckle ride of unrelenting tension.
The slowish start eases you in gently and is paced to perfection. The action, when it comes is hurled at you like an RPG. The sense of claustrophobia and confusion reaches out to the viewer and you find yourself feeling as trapped and despairing as the people on the screen. The atmosphere created by the movie seeps into your psyche and don't be holding a hot drink while watching as there are several jump out of your skin moments. This is certainly one of the best movies of this type and as I have immediately bumped the sequel up my order list I do not hesitate to recommend this to you.
Enjoy.
